Wireless Setup

Please make sure your connection is working correctly using Ethernet or USB before you try to connect using wireless.

Before you begin, please make sure you have identified your modem by following the instructions on the "Identify My Modem" page.

Follow the instructions that apply to your modem type:

Instructions for Zoom X6 (4-port + wireless)

On the Zoom X6 configuration page, click on "Wireless"

You should see the following screen. Make sure that "Wireless Status" is "Enable". (If you make any changes, you will have to click on "Save Changes" and then "Write Settings to Flash".) You should now be able to connect using wireless. This is a good test to make sure everything is working so far, but it is strongly recommended that you encrypt your wireless network. Otherwise your neighbours and other people nearby will be able to use your Internet connection. You are responsible for all use of your Internet connection.

If all your computers using wireless are a few years old or newer, you can probably change the Profile to "802.11g Only". This works a little better than "b + g", so it is a good idea to try it and see if it works. Remember to click on "Save Changes" and then "Write Settings to Flash" if you make any changes.
